Dear guests,
The time has come. Tomorrow, on Saturday, 6 December 2025, Saint Nicholas will visit us for the first time with his entire entourage, including angels and Krampus. Have you already managed to record your children's misdemeanours or good deeds in the book of sins? You can still do so today, so that Saint Nicholas, the devils and angels can read something to the naughty and nice little ones. The voluntary admission fee will be used to cover the travel expenses of the devils, Saint Nicholas and the angels, because it is a long way to us from both hell and heaven. We cordially invite you and look forward to seeing the whole Saint Nicholas troupe, you and your children.
At the same time, our charity stand for Honzík Šána from Hradiště near Nová Bystřice will open next to our punch stand this weekend. Honzík, now 18, suffered a severe brain infection as a newborn, leaving him severely mentally disabled, unable to sit up or care for himself, and requiring constant care. In 2023, our guests donated CZK 23,266 to little Julinka from N. Bystřice, and in 2024, they donated CZK 35,562 to Vojtěch Opelka, also from N. Bystřice. This year's collection for Honzík Šána has already been supported by visitors to our 1st Wood Carving Symposium, which was organised at the Waldhotel Peršlák in cooperation with Waldviertel Exklusiv from Heidenrechstein, with a contribution of CZK 15,000. Our campaign, with which his parents would like to buy a special mattress for Honzík, will run until 6 January 2026. Come by and support this good cause by buying a small item at our stand.
Monday, 8 December 2025, is a public holiday in Austria, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. It is one of the three most important Marian feasts in the Catholic liturgical calendar.
This coming weekend, the Peršláker Bear promises to wake up from hibernation. Since he loves occasional attention, he will set his alarm clock and rush over to us to have his photo taken with anyone interested on Saturday and Sunday, 13th and 14th December, from 11:30 a.m. onwards. Take advantage of this opportunity and come by to see our bear. The brave ones can even pet him.
Unfortunately, our capacity in the outdoor dining area and restaurant is limited, so we kindly ask you to reserve a table by telephone on +420 384 386 505.
We offer school pupils and students from Neubistritz and the surrounding area the opportunity to work part-time in our restaurant or hotel. Mainly at weekends, but also during the holidays. The minimum hourly wage is 180 koruna and meals during shifts are free. We are looking for reliable and committed people who enjoy working in the catering industry and interacting with people. Are you no longer studying and would like to earn some extra money working in the catering industry? Get in touch with us, we would love to meet you.
PS: Our restaurant is open 7 days a week, every day from 11:30 a.m. Of course, you can also order from our entire menu.
Kind regards,
Marcus O. Hauser

Dear guests,
As you are no doubt aware, the festive season is now upon us. Sunday, 30 November 2025, marks the first Sunday in Advent, when the first candle is lit on the Advent wreath. In many places, the Christmas tree will be lit up for the first time, for example in Nová Bystřice (Neubistritz) or Slavonice (Zlabings). You can find more tips for events where you can soak up the Christmas spirit on our homepage here: Events
Or come directly to us, where we have already opened a punch stand on the hotel terrace with a variety of hot drinks.
We have arranged with Saint Nicholas that he will visit us on Saturday, 6 December 2025, with his entire entourage, including angels and devils. For anyone interested, we will open the Book of Sins, from which Nicholas, devils or angels will read out the misdemeanours of the naughty children. Conversely, it is also possible to give praise for good deeds. In addition to our usual menu, we will also be serving hellish punch or St. Nicholas mulled wine and non-alcoholic angel tea at the stand in front of the hotel. The voluntary admission fee will be used to cover the travel expenses of the devils, St. Nicholas and the angels, as it is a long way to us from both hell and heaven. We cordially invite you and look forward to seeing the whole St. Nicholas troupe, you and your children.

Dear guests,
Winter is just around the corner, we've already had the first snowfall of the year, and now the frosty days are beginning. But here at the Waldhotel Peršlák restaurant, it's nice and warm. Just imagine: the fire is blazing in the fireplace, you're making yourself comfortable on our cosy sofa, holding a fragrant mulled wine, punch, coffee or hot chocolate in your hand. In an atmosphere like this, winter will fly by.
What's more, you can reach us via the newly repaired road, which you no longer have to imagine, because it has already become a reality. Have you tried it yet? How do you like the drive to us? We look forward to your feedback.

Dear guests,
Today marks the start of a long weekend in Czechia, as Monday, 17 November 2025, is a public holiday, the Day of the Fight for Freedom and Democracy. Two significant events are associated with this date. The first took place in 1939, when Czech universities and student dormitories were closed and many students were arrested, some even executed. This happened shortly after the funeral of Jan Opletal, who had been fatally injured during an anti-Nazi protest on 28 October 1939. The second event is remembered by many of us as the peaceful student march on Národní třída in Prague in 1989 was violently suppressed, marking the beginning of the so-called ‘Velvet Revolution’ that led to the fall of the communist regime. Thanks to this event, we can not only travel around the world, but also visit the beautiful nature of the border region without restrictions. And it was the first step towards transforming the border guard barracks into the Peršlák Forest Hotel. Come and join us to celebrate this important day.
We would also like to remind you of the launch of the book Landštejnské legendy (Legends of Landštejn), which will take place this Sunday, 16 November 2025, at 3 p.m. at our hotel, with the participation of the author Josef Gušlbauer and guests of honour, actor Dušan Sitka and the Swing Trio music group. The book will of course be available for purchase, and you can have Mr Gušlbauer sign it or write a dedication.

Dear guests,
Our first international wood carving symposium has come to a successful end. Last weekend was very eventful. The artists worked diligently with their chainsaws and earned the admiration of almost 2,000 visitors. All of the artworks that were auctioned off after the speed carving found buyers, and many of the sculptures that were brought along and created here also found new owners. An art symposium sounds wonderful, but of course it also has to make economic sense for everyone involved. Thanks to our visitors, we succeeded in doing just that.
Yesterday, repair work began on the access road to our premises. Today, on 7 November 2025, new asphalt will be laid on the worst sections, which is why the restaurant and hotel will remain closed for the entire day. We will be open again from tomorrow, Saturday, 8 November 2025, and look forward to welcoming you. Come by and see how the partial renovation of the access road has turned out.
Until the end of November, you can enjoy goose or duck dishes, which we will be happy to prepare for you. We kindly request that you make your reservation 24 hours in advance. Thank you very much.

Dear guests,
Today marks the start of our long-awaited 1st International Woodcarving Symposium. Artists with their chainsaws are coming to us from all over the world, from Ecuador, the USA, Germany, Slovenia, etc. Today is all about preparations. From Saturday, 1 November 2025, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, 2 November 2025, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 19 masters will be creating their new works, and you can be there to watch them at work and admire their creations. Or you can take the opportunity to participate in one of the carving workshops or watch the speed carving. We have prepared a separate accompanying programme for children. Admission is voluntary, and your contributions will help two children from Czechia and Austria. Come by and who knows, maybe you will like one of the wooden sculptures so much that you will want to take it home with you. We cordially invite you all.
Following this major event, we will be closed on Monday, 3 November 2025, and Tuesday, 4 November 2025. On Wednesday, 5 November 2025, there will be no electricity in Nový Vojířov all day due to work on the power line, which is why we will also be closed on that day. From Thursday, 6 November 2025, we look forward to seeing you again.
Until the end of November, you can treat yourself to goose or duck, which we will be happy to roast for you. All you need to do is order at least 24 hours in advance.

Dear guests,
The celebrations will continue over the next few days, as there are more public holidays coming up. In Austria, the national holiday is celebrated on Sunday, 26 October. In Czechia, Tuesday, 28 October, is the day on which independent Czechoslovakia was founded, and the people of Litschau also celebrate this date, as they remained part of Austria thanks to the negotiating skills of Count Josef Seilern-Aspang. Please note that the large shops in Czechia will be closed on this day. However, we are open and welcome you not only on these public holidays.

Dear guests,
Did you know that several holidays are celebrated on Monday, 20 October? In addition to Vendelin's name day, all chefs, both professional and amateur, can also take part, as 20 October was declared International Chefs' Day in 2005. This day was already declared Arbor Day in 1951 and, 37 years later, World Statistics Day. Whether your name is Vendelin or not, come and support our chef, conduct a statistical survey among the trees in the vicinity of our hotel or calculate the number of visitors to our restaurant and celebrate everything at once. Or spread the individual activities over several days so that you can experience more and have less stress because you don't have enough time to evaluate your personal statistics.
From Friday, 10 October 2025, you can look forward to our geese and ducks throughout October and until the end of November, which we will be happy to prepare for you if you order 24 hours in advance.

Dear guests,
The Theresian Indian summer has arrived, bringing with it thick morning fog and ground frost. The fog disappears during the morning and the sun comes out in the afternoon. This period lasts from 5 to 20 October and is celebrated in folk mythology as the feast day of Saint Theresa of Ávila.

Dear guests,
The time has come. Tomorrow, Saturday, 4 October 2025, is the big day. Not only is it International Animal Day, which takes place every year, but above all it is the grand opening of our new wayside shrine with a water dispenser for all thirsty cyclists and hikers. Before this event, Father Schlosser will celebrate Holy Mass at 2 p.m. in the small church in Nový Vojířov (Bohemian Bernschlag). The consecration of our wayside shrine, dedicated to the patron saint of all cyclists, the Madonna del Ghisallo, will take place at around 4 p.m. in front of our Waldhotel Peršlák. Immediately afterwards, at around 4:30 p.m., the cycling map ‘Landštejnské legendy’ (Legends of Landštejn) will be christened in the presence of the main initiator Josef Gušlbauer and the representatives of the sponsors Andreas Kozar (Mayor of Reingers), Johannes Heißenberger (Deputy Mayor of Litschau) and myself for the Waldhotel Peršlák. Come and join us to pass the time while waiting for the results of the parliamentary elections in Czechia and spend a pleasant afternoon with us at the Waldhotel Peršlák. On Sunday, 5 October 2025, our cultural programme will continue at 3 p.m. with the third staged reading of the Landštejn legends, in both Czech and German. As always, admission is voluntary. Come and listen to interesting stories from the past that may have taken place in the vicinity of the nearby Landštejn Castle.
From Friday, 10 October 2025, you can once again look forward to our geese and ducks, which we will be happy to prepare for you 24 hours in advance. And to whet your appetite, we will be serving our duck leg as part of our weekly menu on Tuesday, 7 October 2025.

Dear guests,
on Monday, 22 September 2025, at 8:19 p.m., astronomical autumn began, which is why we have also changed our seasonal menu. Instead of summery blueberry dishes, we now offer typical autumn dishes, in particular our popular pumpkin cream soup with black pumpkin seed oil and plum dumplings, generously sprinkled with poppy seeds and sugar and topped with butter.
Wednesday, 1 October 2025, is World Vegetarian Day. That's not the only reason we've prepared a meat-free menu for you. Come and try our cheese skewers with vegetables and parsley potatoes. We're sure that both die-hard vegetarians and meat lovers will enjoy them.
