11.09.25 The history of Peršlák

Two weeks ago, we welcomed a group of senior citizens from the Waldviertel region, and last week we welcomed a group of senior citizens from the Tabor district. Together, we took walks to the northernmost point of Austria, to the bridge in the Valley of Love, to the Stone of the Republic, to the destroyed village of Neumühl and to the Iron Curtain Memorial.
Such a walk with detailed explanations of the history of our surroundings takes about one to one and a half hours. For clubs or interested senior citizens' groups, it is of course free of charge if you have lunch with us in our restaurant afterwards.
We are particularly pleased to introduce you to our beautiful border region between Austria and Czechia with its eventful history, especially outside the high season.
These tours are only available on weekdays, from Monday to Thursday, by prior appointment. On weekends (Friday to Sunday), the hotel and restaurant are very busy, so unfortunately we cannot accept larger group reservations. The tours are offered in German, Czech or English.
The minimum number of participants is 15.

11.05.25 How was the weekend?

Dear guests, thank you very much for your numerous visits on this long weekend (8 May is a bank holiday in the Czech Republic). Many cyclists are already flocking to our border region - the cycling season is in full swing despite the cooler temperatures. The number of hikers on the ‘Via Czechia’ long-distance hiking trail is also increasing.

A special moment for us was the visit of a large company who celebrated the christening of their baby with us - we were delighted to be part of this special day.
Sunday was exceptionally well attended - even though Mother's Day is traditionally celebrated more in Austria than in the Czech Republic. We had prepared 50 roses for our mums - a small gesture that brought great joy.

We also covered our guest garden with white tablecloths - Gudrun provided the atmospheric floral decorations. It was like a spring fairy tale.
Our team in the kitchen, led by our chef Jiří, once again did a great job, and Lukáš, František and Tereza took good care of our guests.

A big thank you to our guests, our staff and our helpers for a successful weekend full of wonderful encounters.

Dear guests, today, Sunday 11.05.2025, our restaurant is fully booked on Mother's Day, including the guest garden. The first tables will be free from approx. 15:30. We thank you for your understanding and look forward to your visit.

25.04.25 Women's Seniors' Association in Peršlák

Today we had a visit from the Women's Seniors' Association from Neubistritz at the Waldhotel Peršlák.

As not all the ladies are mobile, we organised two vans to take them from Neubistritz to the hotel.
In Peršlák, we went on a short excursion together through the area surrounding our hotel. We visited the ruins of the mill in the former village of Neumühl, paused at the monument to the Iron Curtain and looked at the unfinished chapel of St John Nepomuk.

We then walked to the bridge that leads into the Valley of Love. We ended the rainy but atmospheric afternoon at the Waldhotel Peršlák, where we invited the ladies for coffee and dessert.

It was a really nice and cheerful experience. We would like to thank all the ladies for their visit - and we are already looking forward to a repeat of this lovely event!

Visit from Karl Lukas & new books for the 850th anniversary of Neubistritz
Today we welcomed Mr Karl Lukas to the Waldhotel Peršlák - just in time for the inauguration of the exhibition celebrating the 850th anniversary of the town of Neubistritz.
To mark the occasion, we have had the popular classic ‘Neubistritz on postcards before 1945’ reprinted. And another book highlight will be published in June:
‘Neubistritz - the villages around Neubistritz up to 1945 on picture postcards’.
Of course, all copies have been signed by Mr Karl Lukas. You can purchase your copy daily from 09:00 at the hotel reception for 500 crowns.
A piece of local history - lovingly collected and preserved.

We cordially invite you to watch a forgotten documentary film from Austrian television from 1961 (invitation attached) about life on the Austrian-Czechoslovakian border on Saturday, 12 April at the Waldhotel Peršlák. You can enjoy the film, the musical accompaniment will be provided by Josef Gušlbauer and you will hear an expert commentary on the Czech border troops by Libor Svoboda, Ph. Ph.D.

31.03.25 31.03.25 Invitation to the film screening

A forgotten film document opens a window into a bygone world: on 12 April 2025 at 15:00, we will be showing the Austrian documentary ‘Between Minks and Barbed Wire’ from 1961 at the Waldhotel Peršlák.

This rare film sheds light on life on the Austrian-Czechoslovakian border during the Cold War - with unique views of today's Waldhotel, then a border barracks.

The film will be accompanied by a specialist lecture by historian Mgr Libor Svoboda, Ph.D. as well as musical accompaniment and moderation by Josef Gušlbauer.
