In the Czech Republic, All Souls’ Day is firmly established on Monday, 2 November. If you’d like to discover something new, we invite you to join guided tours of our twin towns, Nová Bystřice (on Saturday, 7 November 2026) and Heidenreichstein (on Saturday, 21 November 2026), both starting at 3.00 pm and meeting at the fountain in the market square. After the city tour, you’ll not only be able to enjoy a bite to eat, but also share your impressions and observations with the other participants in the pleasant atmosphere of the ‘U Toma’ or ‘Moorstein’ restaurants. don’t forget that this Sunday, 25 October 2026, the clocks will once again change from summer time to winter time; that is, at 3.00 am, the clocks will be set back by one hour to 2.00 am. Later on Sunday – at 3.00 pm to be precise – there will be a bilingual children’s book reading at the Waldhotel Peršlák. Do come along with your children to listen to some wonderful stories, and who knows, perhaps your child will make a new friend there who will help them learn a new language.

As we do every year, we’ll be including roast goose and duck in our seasonal menu this year too. Others do this around St Martin’s Day, which is in about a month’s time. However, as we’re impatient and want you to be able to enjoy these delicacies for even longer, we’ll be doing so a little earlier. And as a little taster, we’ve included roast duck leg with potato dumplings and red cabbage on our weekly menu for Tuesday 13 October 26. We would like to remind you that it is best to order roast duck and goose at least 24 hours in advance so that we can prepare them properly for you. However, we are already taking bookings.

on monday, we celebrate the feast day of Saint Wenceslas, the patron saint of the Czech people, in the Czech Republic. It was on 28 September 935 that Prince Wenceslas was murdered; during his reign, he preserved the sovereignty of the Czech lands, spread Christianity throughout his homeland and founded the Rotunda of St Vitus, which was then the principal church of the principality and the forerunner of today’s St Vitus Cathedral. In 2000, this day was declared a public holiday for the first time, on which shops are closed. However, we look forward to welcoming you to our restaurant on this public holiday as well.

The leaves on some trees are already turning brown, but there is still no shortage of colour. In the meadows and along the paths, you can spot the yellow flowers of toadflax, goldenrod and tansy, whilst in the woods you’ll find the pink to purple flowers of heather species; and if you look closely, you might even find some red cranberries. today marks the 235th anniversary of the opening of Europe’s first industrial exhibition, known as the ‘Waarenkabinet’. This event took place from 21 August to 14 September 1791 at the Clementinum in Prague to mark the coronation of Leopold II of Habsburg as King of Bohemia. The organisers’ aim was to document the state of development of domestic manufacturing; on display were products from 49 industrial sectors, including textiles, lace, jewellery and cut mirrors.
